SAHAJ, founded and registered in 1984, envisions a society with social justice, peace, and equal opportunities for all. SAHAJ works meticulously to create tangible and sustainable change in the lives of marginalized communities, especially children, adolescent girls, and women.
SAHAJ believes in developing programmes based on the expressed needs of communities. While our long-term engagement has been in the health and education sectors, being guided by communities has led to the addition of livelihoods as a key area of work in recent years.
Direct action in communities, action research, and policy dialogue are some of the strategic interventions within our comprehensive approach. To achieve greater impact at the state and national levels, we collaborate with like-minded organizations to form coalitions. Experts from the SAHAJ ethics committee and advisory committee, formed for the adolescent rights programme and data-driven advocacy for gender equality and the sustainable development goals, contribute their insights and guide us from time to time.
